FAIRFIELD, Calif. — November 4, 2026. The Fairfield City Council District 3 election is separated by only 18 votes between the first two candidates in an early tabulation. Local News Matters’ Solano County election-results page lists Robert Marin at 1,262 votes (41.69%), incumbent Doug Carr at 1,244 (41.10%) and Susan Bush at 521 (17.21%). This is a dated initial results snapshot, not a verified final count through the end of November 4.
Why the margin matters
The three candidates compete for one District 3 council seat. Marin’s 18-vote first-place lead could change as more eligible votes are tabulated; a countywide backlog of unprocessed ballots cannot be directly equated with District 3 ballots still outstanding. For that reason, California58 is not declaring a winner.
County count still in progress
The Vallejo Sun reported that Solano County had counted 113,837 ballots as of 4:51 p.m. Pacific on November 4, with approximately 40,000 ballots still to process across the entire county. The county expects further reporting on Thursday, November 5. These outstanding ballots are not all from Fairfield.
Other election results in Fairfield
Fairfield residents also voted in a four-candidate mayoral election, and on local Measures P and Q. In an earlier snapshot, Pam Bertani led the mayoral contest; Measure Q, concerning appointment of the city clerk, showed a relatively close Yes lead. Read our separate report on those races.
