FAIRFIELD, Calif. — November 4, 2026, evening editorial review. City Council member Pam Bertani leads the four-way Fairfield mayoral race in the first available tabulation published by Local News Matters’ Solano County election tracker. Its early reported tally lists Bertani with 7,549 votes (45.87%), followed by Scott Tonnesen with 3,447 (20.95%), Nikila Walker Gibson with 2,824 (17.16%) and George Kennedy with 2,636 (16.02%). These are not certified final results and are not represented as the county’s latest complete count.

What voters also decided in Fairfield

Fairfield’s Measure P asked whether to extend and potentially increase the city sales tax for services including police, fire, streets and homelessness response, with oversight and reporting provisions. In the same early table, 8,928 votes were Yes (52.70%) and 8,012 No (47.30%).

Measure Q concerned making the city clerk an appointed rather than elected position. The preliminary count was exceptionally close: 8,164 Yes votes (50.58%) and 7,978 No (49.42%), a Yes lead of only 186 votes. Any conclusion about final passage should await the county canvass.

Countywide ballots are still being processed

The Vallejo Sun reported that, as of 4:51 p.m. November 4, Solano County had counted 113,837 ballots countywide and estimated around 40,000 remained. These countywide outstanding ballots are not a Fairfield-only total. The Solano County Registrar is the authoritative source for later updates and final certification.

Why the measures matter

Measure P affects potential local tax revenue and the services funded by it. Measure Q changes how a city administrative office is selected. The reported Yes majorities are descriptive election data, not an editorial recommendation for either proposal.
